How to register for and install Slack
Everything other than the streaming of the sessions will take place through the software Slack. We will soon send an email to the email address that you provided during registration with the invitation to the event. Start by clicking Join Now.
If you already have a Slack account on another email address, please let us know. |
Go to https://slack.com/intl/en-no/downloads. The link should redirect you to the specific download for your operating system. Click on Download (64-Bit).

What can you do in Slack?
Here are a few useful things you will need to know during EvoDemo7:
1) Profile. Here is all the information related to you. See the next image for a detail explanation.
2) Browse Slack. Here you can access pages that give you a wider overview of what is happening across EvoDemo7 Slack. We recommend that you pin all the options through “preferences” for easier access later.
3) The #-general channel contains general information, the program, and regular announcements posted during the event.
4) The #-support channel contains all the technical information. If you have technical issues related to Teams, Slack or other, you can contact us here and we will do our best to help you. You can also contact @TeamsSupport through Direct messages (9) for specific questions related to Teams.
5) The #-twitter channel is a feed from tweets sent to and from @EvoDemo7.
6) All posters will be posted in their own channel and labelled #poster-lastname. Go into the channel to see the poster, contact the author and ask questions. You can also get an overview of all the posters by going to Browse Slack > File browser. Click on the title below the image (not the image) to find the channel for the poster.
7) The #sessionX channels will contain the link to the recordings of the sessions. If you have any questions or comments, we recommend that you write them in the Slack channel instead of through Teams. When doing so, you can tag the person you want to reach with a “@” before writing their name. It might also be useful to write the exact time within the video if you want to refer to a particular slide or point they made!
8) The #workshopX channels will contain information and the recordings of the two workshops.
9) Under Direct messages you can enter in chats with individual participants. If you click on someone’s name there, only you and the recipient will be able to read the chat. Tip* If you click on yourself, you can use your own chat to write comments meant only for yourself.
10) Join the conversations through the chat box! Don’t hesitate and format your text and add emojis :).

Profile. Two options are particularly handy here:
A) Use the Edit profile to give other participants a bit more information about yourself. It is also nice for other participants to have a face to associate with your name! B) In Preferences you can adjust Slack to your liking. Feel free to explore the different options so that Slack does exactly what you want it to. |
Of course, Slack has much more to offer, but after these instructions you should be able to access everything related to EvoDemo7. If you have any more questions, remember that you can find us in the #-support channel.
